Annual
Wellness Examinations
Our
pets age five to seven years for every one of ours, making yearly
physicals even more necessary than our own. Dr. Anderson
recommends annual wellness examinations to ensure that your
pet receives the best preventive medicine addressing health problems
before they become chronic. Vaccinations are customized to your pet's lifestyle,
risk factors, and age. |
|
General
Medicine
At any point pets can
become ill and require assistance. We strive to provide the very
best care for your pet by listening carefully to you and performing
a thorough physical exam. Dr. Anderson performs most routine
diagnostic testing within the hospital, and utilizes the latest information and
best medications
to assist your pet's health in the shortest time
possible. |
|
Senior Pet Care
Because pets age so quickly, we offer Senior Wellness
exams to
enhance your older pet's well being and promote early detection of
abnormalities and disease. These exams include a comprehensive
physical exam, blood and urine tests for the evaluation of major metabolic
diseases, blood pressure and glaucoma testing, ultrasound to evaluate internal organs
if necessary, and digital radiographs (x-rays) to assess the heart, lungs, and arthritic conditions if
needed. |
|
Surgery
Our surgical suite is equipped with the
modern
anesthetics and monitoring devices. All animals undergoing
general anesthesia
have their blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm, blood oxygen levels,
and respirations monitored throughout the procedure. Dr. Anderson strongly
believes in the health benefits of pain management before, during, and after your pet's
surgical procedure. |
|
Dentistry
Maintaining good oral health can add years to
your pet's life and can make their later years more comfortable and
happy. During an annual visit, Dr. Anderson will examine your pet's
mouth for signs of early gum disease and point out areas of tartar
build-up or disease. We suggest a dental screening prior
to scheduling for pet dentistry procedures such as ultrasonic scaling and polish, extractions,
and mass
removal under general anesthesia. |
Orthopedics
A full range of orthopedic procedures, as
well as some soft tissue surgeries, are
performed in our office by Dr. Rick Scherr. Dr. Scherr is a traveling orthopedic
surgeon, while owning a full service medical center, Big Sky Animal
Medical Center, located in Great Falls, Montana. Providing these
surgeries locally allows our
patients the convenience of recovering right here
in Lakeside.

Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory allows us to have
results for a Complete Blood Count (red blood cells,
white blood cells, and platelets); Blood Chemistry Tests (kidney, liver,
thyroid, electrolytes, blood sugar, proteins, and bile acids);
a complete Urinalysis; Parasite microscopic exams for
external or internal parasites, Heartworm tests, Feline Leukemia and
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus tests, Ethylene Glycol Poisoning (antifreeze)
testing, and Parvovirus tests. Most test results are completed in
minutes. For more in depth testing, we use various
outside laboratories that can often have results to us in 24-48
hours. |
|
Radiology
Our modern on site digital radiographic equipment
provides high quality x-rays to help Dr. Anderson quickly evaluate
musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal,
reproductive, and urinary systems. Board certified
radiologists at PetRays and WSU are routinely consulted to review x-rays for
extensive cases on an as-needed basis.
|
|
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is utilized
as a
non-invasive technique that produces a visual image of the interior
of the body. Ultrasound is helpful for diagnosing many types of
heart problems, as well as abdominal conditions.when surgery or anesthesia
is not possible or desirable. Dr. Anderson utilizes the
ultrasound in our office for routine medical conditions as
necessary. |

We maintain a extensive inventory of pharmaceuticals, basic nutritional supplements,
heartworm prevention medication, dewormers, flea/tick prevention, and
prescription veterinary diets to
meet the needs of your pet. |
